Meeting Procedures
SpeechesIf you visit our Serendipity Toastmasters meeting, you’ll hear members presenting speeches from the various Communication and Leadership manuals that guide us in all aspects of speech writing and delivery.
Round the Table SegmentsOn the programme we always schedule “Round the Table” segments where everyone has the opportunity to participate, as well as smaller presentations such as a ‘Review”, or a “Quote” or a “Word for the Day”.
Impromptu SpeakingImpromptu speaking skills are practised in a segment called “Table Topics”. This segment gives you the opportunity to gain valuable skills in learning to “speak on your feet”, so necessary in everyday situations.
EvaluationEach presentation is verbally evaluated so every speaker receives feedback on their strengths as well as suggestions on how they may improve. These evaluations are always constructive, encouraging, and inspiring, This leaves us feeling most enthusiastic when preparing for our next assignment.
TimingTiming is an important aspect of our club meetings. Each presentation has a prescribed time and members learn to speak effectively in a given time frame. Our friendly time keeper ensures each member is aware of their speaking time which helps us learn to communicate succinctly.
SocialYou may be interested in joining Toastmasters for social contact. After the meeting we all catch up by enjoying supper in relaxed surroundings. From time to time there are social events that encompass the larger Toastmasters organisation. |
